Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You’re IT Chris Giolitto Real Estate!
Four questions with Chris Giolitto.
Why did you start your business?
I started my business for 2 main reasons:
I have always loved touring homes and after being a landlord for three years, I realized how much I enjoyed the business of real estate. So, after moving back to CT after a year of living in Philadelphia with my now-wife, I decided to get my license.
Real estate is a business of “dinosaurs.” A majority of agents are slow to adapt to new technology and best marketing practices which hurts their clients. I saw an opportunity to use my background to disrupt the industry by utilizing social media and video creation to improve the services real estate agents provide for clients and members of the community.
What is your best-selling product/service?
My most popular service is video marketing. I create high-quality, in-depth home tours that provide a deeper understanding of a property. This allows interested buyers to envision living in the home before they see it. Video marketing generates greater interest, views, and offers on a property that photography simply can’t produce on its own. As the market slows down, videos like these will be the greatest way to make a property stand out above the competition.
I post all these videos to my Instagram page and my YouTube page – Living In Connecticut!
Have you “reimagined” your small business?
Similar to my “best-selling” service, video on social media has allowed me to connect with people and answer their questions. As the world continues to become more digital, I felt it was important to focus on creating videos that educate, entertain and connect with area residents. Real Estate marketing is still antiquated, with direct mail being the main source of marketing, which doesn’t allow agents to respond in real-time to residents who have questions or concerns.
Social media allows us to connect immediately and start conversations. As we continue to be on our phones, even as we watch TV at night, it is important to be able to connect with anyone as soon as they have the initial thought of buying or selling.
