A year after signing the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class, the Texas A&M Aggies are hoping this weekend’s visitor list becomes a jump off point for another major surge.
This time to the 2023 recruiting class.
Hoping to take advantage of a marquee match-up against Miami, a sudden national recruiting power under Mario Cristobal, Jimbo Fisher and his coaching staff are set to host a stunning collection of talent.
Here’s a look at some of the top prospects expected to be in College Station:
5-star DL David Hicks (Texas; Paetow) – Rated the nation’s No. 8 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman, David Hicks may be the headliner of this weekend’s visitor list.
There was definitely some “will he or won’t he” to this visit, but multiple outlets are reporting hat he has locked in the trip.
5-star linebacker Anthony Hill (Texas; Ryan), Committed to Texas A&M – This visit couldn’t come at a much better time for the Aggies.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian is still actively recruiting Hill and was on the sideline for his game earlier in the week.
Hill is rated the nation’s No. 17 overall prospect and No. 1 linebacker.
5-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams (Florida; Stranahan) – Set to announce his commitment September 23, Hykeem Williams is down to a final six of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M.
Therefore, the matchup between Miami and Texas A&M could be huge.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound pass-catcher is rated the nation’s No. 17 overall prospect and No. 3 wide receiver.
Texas A&M is viewed as the possible leader at this point, so a big-time visit could seal the deal for Fisher’s program.
5-star safety Tony Mitchell (Alabama; Thompson), Committed to Alabama – Tony Mitchell has already taken several visits to Texas A&M, but has never been on hand for a game.
He is not only visiting this weekend, but will also be making a trip just before Signing Day in December.
Mitchell, the nation’s No. 2 safety, is planning official visits to Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M, but recently said he is “locked in” to Alabama despite his visits.
5-star safety Peyton Bowen (Texas; Guyer), Committed to Notre Dame – Rated the nation’s No. 36 overall prospect and No. 4 safety, Peyton Bowen is one of the top prospects in the state of Texas.
While he has been committed to Notre Dame since January 1, the 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back has maintained interest in Oklahoma and Texas A&M, among others, and has visited both schools.
4-star cornerback Bravion Rogers (Texas; La Grange), Committed to Texas A&M – After committing, de-committing and re-committing to Texas A&M, Bravion Rogers appears to be firmly back in the fold.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound defensive back will likely be on hand to do some peer recruiting.
Rogers is rated the nation’s No. 40 overall prospect and No. 6 cornerback .
4-star wide receiver Jalen Brown (Florida; Gulliver Prep), Committed to LSU – Reported by On3, LSU wide receiver commit Jalen Brown is visiting Texas A&M this weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound pass-catcher is rated the nation’s No. 48 overall prospect and No. 8 wide receiver.
4-star wide receiver Andy Jean (Florida; Northwestern), Committed to Florida – Earlier this week, Andy Jean announced that he would be visiting Texas A&M over the weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound playmaker is rated the nation’s No. 296 overall prospect.
Jean previously took official visits to both Florida and Texas A&M, but despite his commitment to the Gators it appears the battle for his services is not over.
4-star athlete Jeremiyah Love (Missouri; Christian Brothers College) – Rated the nation’s No. 66 overall prospect and No. 4 athlete, Jeremiyah Love is a 6-foot, 190-pound running back who is being pursued by many of the nation’s top program.
He holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas A&M and many others.
Love took official visits to Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas A&M in June and is coming off a Notre Dame trip that may have firmly places the Fighting Irish in the driver’s seat.
5-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader (Florida; Chaminade-Madonna), 2024 – According to Texas A&M’s On3 writer Tim Verghese, both Chaminade-Madonna Prep superstar pass-catchers Joshisa Trader and Jeremiah Smith are expected in College Station.
Trader is rated the nation’s No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 wide receiver in the class of 2024.
5-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (Florida; Chaminade-Madonna), 2024 – Smith is rated the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect and No. 3 wide receiver in the class of 2024.
He is widely believed to be favoring Ohio State.
5-star wide receiver Micah Hudson (Texas; Lake Belton), 2024 – Micah Hudson is yet another five-star wide receiver expected to be in College Station this weekend.
The 6-foot, 186-pound pass-catcher is rated the nation’s No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver.
5-star quarterback D.J. Lagway (Texas; Willis), 2024 – Rated the nation’s No. 30 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the class of 2024, D.J. Lagway is visiting College Station and has a good feeling about the direction in which the program is trending.
“A&M is building something special and I’m truly excited to see what Coach Fisher does with his players this year,” he told SBlive Sports this week.
