LISBON – The time for area students to start opening up those books, whether in the classroom or at home, is drawing near, and CAACC’s Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers want to help by offering some school supplies.
In celebration of National Health Center Week, which is Aug. 7-13, CAACC’s Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers are planning to host a back-to-school drive-through. The event is set from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11 in the upper circle area near the Community Action Agency of Columbiana County’s Administrative Building, 7880 Lincole Place.
“This event, and National Health Center Week, is about building awareness of our health, behavioral health and dental centers in Columbiana County,” said Jenna Wonner, CAACC’s COO. “We love reaching out to the community, to our patients, and helping to create community pride while getting the word out about all the services we offer at our centers throughout the county.”
The event is being held in the early evening to allow working parents to take part.
“This is the fourth year we have offered this drive-through event, and we’re happy to provide some school supplies and help parents and kids get a jump on school supply lists,” said Jody Wisbith, Marketing Specialist for CAA’s Health, Behavioral Health and Dental centers. “No one will have to get out of their vehicles. All parents have to do is drive to the designated area and receive the supplies.”
Some other CAACC agencies will participate in handing out back-to-school items, including Head Start. CAACC’s Mobility Management and CARTS, as well as its Community Services and Administration offices also are helping by donating supplies to put inside the drawstring bags that are being handed out at the event.
National Health Center Week is the creation of the National Association of Community Health Centers, and the week has been celebrated for more than 30 years.
The CAA Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers also will celebrate its patients and employees during National Health Center Week with a Patient Appreciation Day and an Employee Appreciation Day.
This year Family Recovery Services also will take part and hand out school supplies at the Aug. 11 event, and donations were received from UnitedHeathcare and Buckeye Health Plan.
